Dominant Moors put four past Billingham

Spennymoor began their pre-season schedule with a comfortable win over Northern League side Billingham Town at Bedford Terrace.

Goals from Rob Ramshaw, Graeme Armstrong and Mark Anderson (2) put the gloss on a dominant performance from start to finish.

Manager Jason Ainsley opted to field a strong eleven in the first half, giving debuts to Christopher Chantler, Matthew Dixon, Jake Orrell and David Foley.

Moors struck the woodwork twice in the opening period, with Glen Taylor firing against the post before Kallum Griffith's audacious long range effort came back off the bar.

Foley was a constant danger to the Billingham back-line as the half progressed, but it was Rob Ramshaw, who scored Moors final goal of last season, who fired low and hard past the opposition keeper.

Ainsley made seven changes in the second half, with another debutant, Ryan Hall, pulling on the Moors jersey for the first time.

Two quick-fire goals just past the hour mark sealed the win for Moors. First, Graeme Armstrong smashed a shot past the keeper after collecting Adam Mitchell's corner.

Mitchell got his second assist of the game two minutes later, playing in Mark Anderson who slotted the ball in to make it 3-0.

With the game peetering out, Anderson collected the ball on the edge of the box and curled an effort into the bottom hand corner.

Moors travel to Stockton Town on Tuesday night as their preperations for the new season continue.
