Moors Sign Louie Swain from Harrogate Town

Spennymoor Town have secured the services of left back Louie Swain who has joined us from National League North side Harrogate Town.

Moors Manager Jason Ainsley told us today “We are delighted to announce the signing of left back Louie Swain from Harrogate Town FC. Louie is someone we have watched over a period of time and has stood out to Alan, Tommy and myself in the games we have watched him.

At 21 and to have played the amount of games he has last season in a very successful side who just lost out in the play offs, shows how highly thought of he was there. He was a fans favourite at Harrogate with his enthusiasm to get forward and strong defensive capabilities and we believe he will be a real success in the Evo-Stik premier.”

Moors' Assistant Manager Tommy Miller also commented " Louie is a fantastic edition to the squad, at 21 years of age he has experience from playing over 50 games in the Conference North as well as time at Bradford's City's academy he has that ability to play anywhere on the left and we are looking forward to working with him and helping him develop as a player with the squad".

Louie signed for Bradford City at the age of 13 from Pannal Ash in Harrogate. He played throughout the academy and the youth team as a striker.  He signed as a professional and had loan appearances at Bradford Park Avenue and Guiseley. He switched position to left back over the Christmas period of that season and finished the last month or so at Harrogate Railway in that position.

He joined Harrogate Town in 2014 where he was a regular and fans favourite at the CNG Stadium, and speaking after the pre-season friendly game at Guisborough Town, Louie added “I made a very hard decision to move on, but it’s a fresh challenge for me with some experienced players and I'm looking forward to the season ahead"

We would like to welcome Louie to the Brewery Field.
