Moors Victorious

Friday, April 6th, 2012
Spennymoor Town deservedly won the Durham Challenge Cup for the first time in fourteen years after a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Gateshead Reserves on Good Friday.
Adam Johnston headed Moors in front before strike partner Gavin Cogdon ran through to fire the second just before half time. Danny Moore put the game beyond Gateshead’s reach in the second half when he finished off a superb move to head home and put Moors name on the cup.
Leon Ryan lifted the trophy much to the delight of his teammates, supporters and officials, and it’s expected the celebrations will last long into the night.
