Hetton Lyons C.C. has been playing in the Durham and District Sunday Football League since 1967 but was formed in 1955. This season has seen big change in the management of the Lyons for this season chase on the silverware. The reshuffle has seen the all conquering manager Bradley Groves move to the position of Chairman of the Club in the similar role to the one he holds with Spennymoor. Stuart Gooden and Gary Pearson have taken on the role as joint managers and have great hopes and aspirations of achieving the same success as last season, to assist Stuart and Gary they have the vastly experienced Colin Shanks and Alan Pearson. Off field changes in the management and committee has seen Wayne Kendle return as Secretary and David Leitch move to the Treasurers role to control the finances for the season. Sean Carr has moved from our long serving Chairman to Chief Executive Officer carrying on his long association with the Lyons and long may he continue, Trevor Carr remains as Vice Chairman. Our ever faithful Kitmen Kenny Wade and “Real” Reggie Pearson will carry on as nothing has happened. Stuart Lloyd will carry on as Press Officer informing both our league and the local press of our games and his excellent match reports. Jimmy Dixon and Ronnie Ainsley will assist in any way they can.

In Hetton’s short recent history they have amassed a huge amount of silverware, and are easily the most successful side in recent history in the County. The Lyons have won the F.A. Carlsberg Sunday Cup in 2005/6 a year in which they went unbeaten all season, and also in the 2007/8 season, again winning in 2009/10 with another record breaking season also going unbeaten in all competitions The Lyons have also achieved a feat never before achieved in County Cup history, winning it three years back to back, they have also won the Staffieri Cup , League Cup and Cup Winners’ Cup on numerous occasions throughout, the club’s League record makes awesome reading they have won the Premier Division eight Season’s in-a-row and winning in over 50 cups in the last ten seasons.

The Lyons will be playing their home games at Murton Colliery Welfare for the forthcoming 2010-11 season and will be looking to retain the Durham & District Sunday Football League Premiership title along with all of the connected domestic cups. The Lyons will also look to make history by retaining  F.A. Sunday Cup where we will play our home ties at Spennymoor Town FC, The Brewery Field, Spennymoor.  Furthermore we are looking to extend our astounding Durham County Sunday Cup record.
