Manager: Jason Ainsley Bio: Appointed Manager in June 2007, “God” is a former Spennymoor United talisman who also played for Hartlepool United(£50,000 move), Barrow, Blyth Spartans, Gateshead, Durham City, Billingham Town and Horden, as well as spells in Australia & Singapore. Jason’s first season in charge saw him guide the club to a mid table respectable finish in the Northern League First Division and also a place in the semi final of the Durham Challenge Cup before losing out to an extra time goal against Gateshead at the International Stadium. The season after Moors missed out on the league championship by two points and finished joint third in a season which Spennymoor reached the last 16 of the FA Vase before losing in North Devon to Bideford AFC. The 2009-10 season produced the best for years with Moors winning the Northern League First Division Championship for the first time in thirty years by a clear 13 points and also become only the third club in the league’s history to reach 100 points.

Assistant Manager: Perry Briggs Bio: Appointed as Jason’s Number two in May 2010 after previously managing Dunston UTS and most recently working as a coach at Bedlington Terriers. Perry has a wealth of Northern League knowledge as both a player and manager, therefore his experience will be invaluable this coming season.

Player Coach: Carl Beasley Bio: Carl has captained the club for the past three seasons and is now entering his 5th Season since rejoining his hometown club in November 2006 from Tow Law Town. Recently appointed to the coaching staff for the 2010 – 11 season, Carl is a firm favourite with the Moors fans.

Sports Physiotherapist: Andy Oates Bio: Long serving Physio who is entering his fifth season at The Brewery Field. A popular member of the backroom staff, Andy was previously with Durham City.

Player Name: Simon Bishop Posisition: Goalkeeper Bio: Vastly experienced stopper who started his career at Newcastle United, and went on to play for Hartlepool United, Bishop Auckland, Dunston, Northallerton, Guisborough and Tow Law. Simon also made over 200 appearances for Barrow and Stalybridge Celtic in both the UniBond League and The Blue Square North. Represented Hartlepool United in the Masters Football tournament.

Player Name: Craig Turns Posisition: Goalkeeper Bio: Former Sunderland Goalkeeper, Craig joined shortly after the start of the successful 2009-2010 campaign and established a fast growing reputation as one of the best keepers in the North East Non League Scene. Craig kept an impressive 13 clean sheets last season since arriving from Blue Square North Club Blyth Spartans where he made 150 appearances in two spells, and previously won the UniBond League with Durham City the season before.

Player Name: Chris Mason Posisition: Defender Bio: Chris was one of the most consistent players last season, cutting a powerful figure in the centre of the defence and leads by example. Missed only one league game all last season at the heart of the league’s best defence during his first year at the club. Started his career with Darlington, represented England at Schoolboy level and had a spell playing in Sweden for Ostavalls IF. Previously played for Harrogate Town, Gateshead and Shildon.

Player Name: Kallum Griffiths Posisition: Defender Bio: Right-sided defender, Kallum Griffiths, joined Spennymoor from Sunderland Nissan in the summer of 2009. Kallum, who developed his football skills in the youth and reserve teams at Bradford City, had joined Nissan in the summer of 2008. He has shown maturity in making the right back spot his own after impressive displays last season in a championship winning side.

Player Name: Paul Stephenson Posisition: Defender Bio: Tall, commanding central defender, a fine header of a ball and comfortable with the ball at his feet. An excellent reader of the game and another leader at the heart of the defence. Started his career with Middlesbrough before spells at Durham City and Sunderland Nissan where he was captain at both clubs. Signed for Spennymoor in the summer of 2009.

Player Name: Stephen Capper Posisition: Defender Bio: 26 year old Dublin Born defender who captained the Republic Of Ireland in the FIFA World Youth Championships in 2003 and also in the UEFA European U-19 Championships in Norway. Capper was a reserve regular at Sunderland before spells at Scarborough and Sunderland Nissan. He moved to Durham City in 2007, and after winning back to back championships, this quality over lapping full back or midfield player joined Spennymoor in August 2009 and scored 7 goals last season, winning the player of the year and Supporters player of the year awards.

Player Name: Michael Laws Posisition: Defender Bio: Michael is an indomitable presence in the back-line, he seldom shirks a challenge and was a key member of Durham City’s Championship winning side in 2009. Spent last season as captain of Dunston UTS and has also played for Blyth Spartans, Gateshead and Whitby Town.

Player Name: Leon Ryan Posisition: Defender Bio: Joined Spennymoor in the summer of 2010. An Experienced centre-half who possesses a distinguished record in non-league football for a small handful of clubs. Came through the youth ranks at Middlesbrough prior to a move to Halifax Town, before dropping into the Northern League scene with Whitley Bay and Durham City. A move back to Whitley Bay in the summer 2008 saw him win the F.A.Vase and named player of the year where he impressed sufficiently. Leon then completed a trio of winners medals last season by captaining Whitley Bay to wins in the Northumberland Cup at St James’ Park, The F.A.Vase at Wembley and Hetton Lyons in the F.A.Sunday Cup at Anfield. Leon is a natural leader, and brings a huge presence on the field.

Player Name: Lewis Dodds Posisition: Midfielder Bio: A key component of the side, Lewis had a terrific debut season during last season’s Championship winning side where he proved to be the essential cog in the Moors midfield. Lewis is one of six players at the Club that have won three consecutive League championships at Durham City and Spennymoor. A former England Schoolboy Captain and Sunderland player who has caught the eye of a number of Football League Clubs including going on trial at Leeds United during the summer. Last season’s Committee’s player of the year.

Player Name: Calvin Smith Posisition: Midfielder Bio: Joined from Dunston UTS in February 2010. Won back to back Championships with Durham City in the Northern League and UniBond Division One North. Combative midfielder with an eye for goal and is comfortable either playing through the middle or out wide. Scored a contender for goal of the season at Newcastle Benfield.

Player Name: Craig Ruddy Posisition: Midfielder Bio: Former Hartlepool United player who made 60 appearances for the Youth & Reserve teams scoring ten goals in the 2007-08 season. Craig is now in his 3rd season at the club and Capped his first full season with the club by being nominated the Supporters’ Player of the Year after a fine personal campaign in a wide role supplying ammunition for the strikers. His lightening pace and eye for goal is always going to be a big attraction and another big season is predicted for this highly rated schemer.

Player Name: Anthony Peacock Posisition: Midfielder Bio: Anthony is now entering his third season with the Club and has been an integral part in the Clubs success during this time. Anthony was an F.A.Youth Cup winner with Middlesbrough and spent 18 months playing in League two with Darlington making 37 first team appearances. A top quality player and a big favourite at the club.

Player Name: Tommy English Posisition: Midfielder Bio: Thrilling outside left schemer who can take on defenders on both sides, cross with accuracy, and is capable of scoring spectacular goals. A former pro with Newcastle United, Livingston and Queen of the South. Tommy formed a formidable partnership with Stephen Capper at Durham City where he scored over 40 goals in two seasons winning back to back championships.

Player Name: Chris Emms Posisition: Midfielder Bio: Signed from Conference North Club Harrogate Town in October 2009. Chris started his career with Middlesbrough then had spells with Peterlee, Billingham Town, Gateshead and Hartlepool United. Chris spent two successful seasons with Newcastle Blue Star where he scored 20 goals in the UniBond League. Very tricky schemer who can play on either flank to good effect.

Joined from Horden CW in January 2010 and scored on his debut with a spectacular overhead kick. Went on to score a further 9 times including a four goal haul against Morpeth Town.

Player Name: Matthew Welch Posisition: Midfielder Bio: This former Carlisle United and Wallsend Boys Club midfielder has spent the last two seasons North of the border playing for Hibernian U-19’s before he signed for Spennymoor in June 2010. Tall, skilful player with an eye for goal.

Player Name: Michael Rae Posisition: Striker Bio: Michael has held the mantle of leading goalscorer in each of his past two seasons at Spennymoor and Whitby Town. Having struck 12 times in the UniBond Premier in 2008/2009, he marked his debut season at Spennymoor last term by tallying 23 goals. A powerful striker who works industriously outside the box, he spent his formative years at Hartlepool United, before loan spells at Southport and Gateshead.

His debut season at Spennymoor yielded 22 league goals having earned a formidable reputation at Durham City, where he spearheaded the Unibond League Title charge in 2009 by netting over 20 times. Player Name: Steven Richardson Posisition: Striker Bio: Steven Richardson was Durham City’s leading scorer for three seasons, hitting over 100 goals in the process and sweeping the board at the player of the year awards before a four figure move to his hometown club Gateshead in the summer of 2009. This diminutive whole hearted striker has a pedigree second to none and a phenomenal goalscoring record. Completed his move to Spennymoor in the summer of 2010. Started his career at Middlesbrough.

Player Name: Chris Lawther Posisition: Striker Bio: Longest serving player at the club who is now entering his 6th Season at the Moors since joining from Local football. Chris has been an active member of the first team squad since making his debut in the 5-0 away win at Peterlee in 2005. Chris has spent much of his Moors career on the bench being used in a ‘super-sub’ role, where his lightning pace caused countless problems for tiring defences and he has responded by maturing with every game since.
