Gareth Waite Signs for Darlington
Spennymoor Town Manager, Jason Ainsley, has announced that midfielder Gareth Waite has signed for Darlington and would like to express his thanks to Gareth for his dedication to the club since he was signed by Jason himself in 2007. We all wish him well for the future.
Jason also wants to thank Darlington and Steve Staunton in particular for the professional way that the deal has been brokered. Spennymoor have waived the 7 day rule to allow Gareth to play for Darlington this coming weekend. As part of the deal, Darlington will play Spennymoor in a pre-season friendly, plus additional friendly matches when they can be arranged. In addition Darlington will loan players to Spennymoor and also give us first option on any players being released.
Jason also went on to say that Darlington have watched the Moors more than any other club this season and hopes that this is the start of a lasting relationship between the two clubs.
As far as the club is concerned the match against Ashington this weekend is on. There will be a precautionary pitch inspection on Friday but the indications are that the game will go ahead.
The Hetton Lyons game against Poulton on Sunday has again been postponed. A re-arranged date will be announced in the near future.
The Bar is now open
Spennymoor Town FC are pleased to announce that the bar in the main stand will now be open to the general public on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights as well as Sunday afternoons. There will be Sky Sports on the large screen TVs and a dart board is now in place.
This has been made possible by the installation of a steel shutter being fitted to isolate the rest of the stand which allows the bar to be opened independantly. The idea is to start to build up the clientele using the football club facilities prior to the new clubhouse being opened in the spring. Planning permission is expected to be finalised in the very near future to allow the development to commence.
The Supporters Club are holding a Race Night this Friday (15th January) and future events are planned for the coming weeks. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the facilities on offer.
