Commercial Manager Appointed

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

Spennymoor Town are pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Jacobs as Head of Commercial at the club.

Mark brings a wealth of experience gained through his involvement with Sheffield Wednesday.

Marks job at Sheffield Wednesday was to bring in new customers for corporate hospitality and also looking after existing customers. He was initially brought in to look after a new hospitality lounge which he built up from zero to £200,000 in his first season and generated around £1 million in sales.

Mark was responsible for 3 levels of hospitality within the club and also selling executive boxes; these packages were either by match by match basis or sold on a seasonal basis.

He was also responsible for the three levels of match sponsor per match, the main match day sponsor for twenty guests, the match ball sponsor for ten guests and the match associate for ten guests.

Additionally the role involved selling perimeter boards and advertising within the match day programme to various companies and kit sponsorship for the players and the manager of the team.

There are a number of targets laid out as part of Spennymoor Towns ongoing development and these include securing sponsorship for both the shirts and the main grandstand.  Alongside the sponsorship Mark will also be looking to develop corporate relationships and generally build ties between the football club and the local community.

Additional responsibilities will include organising events.  With the proposed development of the new social club he will have the perfect opportunity to raise the profile of the club further.

Mark will take up his role on the 1st November and we would like to welcome him to the club and wish him every success in his new role.

    Hi Mark

First of all congratulations on your appointment.

I looked up the clubs website after seeing the position advertised. I have been in football club promotions for the past twenty years, this includes 4 years at Wolves as their Promotions
Manager and and two years at Kidderminster Harriers as Business Development Manager.

I started at Coventry City as Executive Club Manager in 1990 when they were in the old first division working under George Curtis.

The reason for my contact is to ask if you will be looking for promotional staff at Spennymoor Town? I am looking to move from where I am and would be quite happy to move into the area.

I am at present working for Sheffield United Football Club promoting their Super Draw lottery but for personal reasons am looking to move on from where I live. I am looking to start a new life and that is why I was interested in the commercial position advertised at Spennymoor Town.

Should you be looking for someone to promote your club please let me know.

    My contact details are:

Home address – 20 Station Road, Chellaston, Derby, DE73 5SU.
    Tel H 01332 725669
    M 0797 4562227.
    email derbytel@ntlworld.com

    Regards

    Terry Smith
