Community Meals Programme Expanded

Due to its huge popularity, Moors in the Community are set to expand their Community Meals Programme for elderly residents in Spennymoor and the surrounding areas.

Following its launch last summer, and with the support of Spennymoor AAP, the operation has developed into a massive success with over 50 meals being delivered around the area every Tuesday and Wednesday.

As a result, Moors in the Community have decided to add a Thursday to the regular delivery schedule from the start of April in a bid to support even more local people moving forward.

“We’ve been overwhelmed with the response to the Community Meals Programme and we’re excited to be able to enhance what we offer,” explained Community Development Manager, Luke Cowie.

“We’re so thankful to our volunteers who have helped make this possible, as well as for the support of Spennymoor Area Action Partnership in the delivery of our Community Meals.

“Now we’re reaching even more people and hopefully making a real impact across the town and our local area.”

Meals cost £3 for a main and £1 for dessert, offering the highest quality food for the best value price.

If you’re interested in ordering from the scheme, then contact Luke on 07309 068 761 or email [email protected] to arrange to have a menu delivered to your door.
