First Team - Player Profiles

 

 

Jason Ainsley (First Team Manager) 

Jason was appointed manager in the summer of 2007 and has now managed the club in over 500 games winning 13 trophies. He is a former player, captain and assistant manager of Spennymoor since joining in 1989, and in between moved to Hartlepool United, Barrow, Blyth Spartans and Gateshead, before having spells in Singapore and Australia as a player.

 

Tommy Miller (Assistant Manager) 

Appointed in the summer after leaving F.A. Trophy winners Halifax Town, County Durham born Tommy Miller started his career with Hartlepool United, before moving to Ipswich Town. A move to Premier League Sunderland followed where he made 33 appearances but returned to Ipswich, then Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield Town, Swindon Town, Bury and Hartlepool United in 2014. Was appointed caretaker manager of Swindon Town before joining Halifax Town as Assistant Manager in 2015.

 

 Alan White (Player Coach)

Alan joined the club in the summer after spending three years with Darlington as a player and coach. Much travelled defender who played in over 400 football league games after starting his career with Middlesbrough.

 

Barry Farr (Goalkeeper Coach) 

Barry returned to the club in March 2015 following a short spell with West Auckland Town. The former Northern League goalkeeper and Durham City coach became very popular in his previous five seasons at the club ensuring the Moors keepers were prepared in the best possible way for every game.

Andrew Oates (Physiotherapist) 

Andrew joined with Jason in 2007 and now in his 11th season with the club, BSc(Hons)MCSP Chartered Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist working in both the NHS and private health care setting. Andy also has a University degree in sport and exercise along with a PgC sports physiotherapy and PgC sports manual therapy. A popular and key member of the backroom staff.

Daniel Lowson (Goalkeeper) 

Experienced stopper now in his second season at the club. Dan has played for Alfreton Town in the Conference and has also represented Luton Town, Ilkeston and Blyth Spartans. Kept an impressive 20 clean sheets last season.

Ben Smith (Goalkeeper)

Kallum Griffiths (Defender) 

This will be Kallum's 8th season at the club where he has been ever present in the back line. Started his career with Sunderland before moving to Bradford City before joining the Moors in the summer of 2009.

Joseph Tait (Defender) 

Last Season’s Players and Supporters Player of the year, and also named in the league's select XI following another excellent season. Joe is a former Professional with  Hartlepool United, Philadelphia Union and Gateshead, and won a league title with Darlington in 2013.

Christopher Mason (Defender) 

Club Captain who has completed over 300 appearances for the Moors. Chris started his career with Darlington and made his debut against Scunthorpe United in 2004, before joining Harrogate Town and Gateshead. He moved to Sweden to play for Ostavalls then joined the Moors in July 2009.

 

James Curtis (Defender)

Joined from Gateshead after making 596 appearances having been a member of two promotion-winning squads during his time at the International Stadium. Curtis also figured for the Tynesiders in the Conference play-off final at Wembley in 2014, then enjoyed a testimonial match against Newcastle United the same year. 

 

Ian Watson (Defender) 

Joined in October 2015 from Darlington. A left sided defender or midfielder with pace to burn, Ian has also played for Blyth Spartans.

Shane Henry (Midfielder) 

3rd Season with club after joining from Whitby Town. Twice won Managers Player of the Year, Shane has become an essential cog in the Moors midfield.

 

Jamie Chandler (Midfield) 

Summer signing from Gateshead where he made 168 appearances in the Conference scoring 20 goals. Previously won player of the year at Darlington and man of the match in the F.A. Trophy final win over Mansfield Town.

Rob Ramshaw (Midfield)

Joined in the summer from Gateshead where he made 100 appearances in the Conference. A versatile player who started his career with Darlington before moving to the Tynesiders in 2012. 

Andrew Johnson (Midfield)

Joined from Ashington in the summer where he was captain, AJ has been a long time target of the club and rated by many as one of the best players in the Northern League

Mark Anderson (Midfielder) 

Another player to have a huge bearing on the club’s promotion last season after arriving from Carolina Railhawks in January 2016. Mark scored 8 goals during this time including goal of the season, and quickly become a firm favourite with the fans. Started his career with Sunderland and moved to the USA in 2010, then started his professional career with Fort Lauderdale Strikers in 2012 where he scored 19 goals in 65 appearances.

Adam Mitchell (Midfielder)

23 year old winger who joined from Darlington in October after spending the last two and a half seasons making 109 appearances scoring 14 goals. Adam started his career with Sunderland and was handed his Premier League debut by Paulo Di Canio in the 1-0 defeat against Tottenham at White Hart Lane in 2013, and spent time at Gillingham on trial last season.

 

Glen Taylor (Striker)  

Second season with the club, Glen is a big, strong, and technically adept goal scorer who is a former FA Vase winner with Whitley Bay and was Blyth Spartans top goal scorer in 2013 during their Conference North campaign.

Nathan Fisher (Striker) 

Last season’s top scorer with over 30 goals, Nathan joined in October 2013 from Darlington and previously spent three seasons with Gateshead in the Conference. Started his career with Middlesbrough, and following his release signed for then Scottish Premier League side Gretna.

Tom Craddock (Striker)

29 year old striker who joined from Guiseley in the summer after making 30 appearances in the Conference last season. Tom started his career with Middlesbrough before joining Luton Town, Oxford United and Portsmouth.

 

Graeme Armstrong (Striker)

Prolific striker who joined in the summer after winning back to back promotions with Darlington. Graeme has held the mantle of being top scorer at every club he has played for after starting his career with Annan Athletic, before joining Dunston, Gateshead, Harrogate Town, Blyth Spartans and Whitby Town.

David Dowson (Striker) 

Joined from Darlington in February 2016 after spending three seasons winning two promotions. David scored 48 goals in 100 appearances for the Quakers, after joining from Durham City. Started his career with Sunderland and had loan spells with Chesterfield and York City.
