Spennymoor Town FC Supporters Club

Good Friday – 2nd April 2010  Supporters Day  – We are planning to hold a meeting of the supporters club in the Bar from 1pm onwards.  This will be followed by a Darts and Doms handicap with £10 added to each prize fund.  There will be a happy hour and free snacks.  Everyone is welcome.

The Supporters Club met on the 10th January 2010 – the following issues were discussed at the meeting.

The new Clubhouse – Billy Beasley gave an update on the latest position.  The planning application has been approved in principle by the council, however two objections have been received.  One of these has been rejected by the council immediately and the second will hopefully be resolved within a couple of weeks.  Once this has been overcome the building should take 6 – 8 weeks to construct and once fitted out should be open sometime in April.  The building will have an open plan aspect and will have a stage area for events.  The kitchen area will cater for food and drink on match days as well as catering for private parties and functions.

Memorabilia – We are looking for items to be displayed in the new clubhouse.  We lost many items in the original fire so if anyone has any items that they could loan to the club to display then it would be greatly appreciated.  In the meantime we are having various programmes framed up for display.

The Race Night is due to take place this Friday 15th January – please support this event as Im sure it will be a good evening.

Sportsmans Dinner – there are a few seats left on the second Supporters Club table but these are likely to be snapped up pretty quickly so if you want a place let Mike Rowcroft know as soon as possible.  Money for this event must be in by the 5th Feb.

Merchandise – sales of the new hats, scarves and badges are going well and we have sold items mail order to the USA, Portugal and Holland as well as over the UK.

Future Events – there will be a Darts and Dominoes tournament in a couple of weeks time – please watch out for details coming soon.

The Committee met on Saturday 19th December 2009 to determine the roles within the committee and to organise the first function.  The Committee now looks like this:

  • Paul Edgcumbe – Secretary
  • Mike Rowcroft – Chairman
  • Peter Robson – Vice-Chairman
  • Brian Edgcumbe – Fundraising / Events Manager
  • Steve Thompson – Treasurer

The first fundraising event will take place on Friday  15th January 2010 when we will be holding a Race Night in the 100 Club Lounge.  There will be a small fee to cover Pie and Peas and there will be an opportunity to win a Spennymoor Town Football Shirt signed by the players.  Gav will have the bar open all night and we expect the evening to commence at 7:30.  Details will be confirmed in the near future.

As this is our first venture please get down and show your support.

Supporters Club badgeThe new Supporters Club badge has been specially commissioned and will be a replica of the original ‘leaping tiger’ Supporters club badge from the 1970’s.  These will be reserved solely for Supporters club members so if you want to get your hands on one, the membership application details are located at the bottom of this page.  These should be available at the next match or at the race night.

Supporters Club launch

I am looking to get the supporters club off the ground in the next couple of weeks.  If I can get permission to use the 100 club prior to the Ryton game on the 12th December between 1 and 2pm then we can hold the initial meeting then to get the important stuff out of the way.

In the mean time I have drafted up a set of rules for the club, see below.  If you can have a read and recommend any additions or changes that you think would add to the document then please let me have some feedback before the document is accepted.

I am now looking for nominations / seconders for committee members.  We need 4 committee members as a minimum to undertake the roles – if we start with 4 to get things up and running then we can always appoint more at a later stage if required.

Can you please send me your nominations via PM, text to 07770 500593 or via e-mail.  I will post details of those in the running should we need names to be seconded.  If we have more that 4 names in the frame then we can decide to either accept a larger committee or put it to the vote.

I will draw up an agenda for the meeting closer to the time but if you have any items that you would like to include on the agenda again please let me know.

Those members who have not yet paid the membership, can you please pay the subs at the initial meeting.
