Moors launch crowdfunding campaign to fund stand improvements

Spennymoor Town FC is preparing to bring The Brewery Field up to ‘Grade C’ by installing 250 new covered seats in the Ramside Estates Main Stand.

The club is now raising funds for the league-stipulated improvements through crowdfunding website ‘Crowdfunder’ with a target of £7,750 to complete the works.

The seating in the stand is now of an age where it is becoming unsuitable and damaged.  This means that all seats in the stand need to be refurbished, at the cost of £31 per unit.

An initial milestone of £2,000 has been set to begin with and the fundraising will continue in stages.

Donations can be made either through the Crowdfunder website or in cash or cheque in person by seeing a club official.  All contributors will receive a thank you on the club website and in the match day programme.  However, the club has stipulated that this is not an exercise allowing people to buy a seat for their own exclusive use.

Steven Lawson, Director of Match Day Operations, said: “We want to bring the ground up to a standard which would make promotion as straightforward as possible, should we achieve it this season.

“The club is run incredibly professionally by the chief executive and we’ve identified this as an area which needs addressing as part of our progression.

“We’re fortunate to have a strong fan base at Spennymoor Town, who recognise running a non-league club at our level requires constant fundraising.  We know they’ll show us their usual level of support for this campaign.”

The replacement of the stand seats is the first stage of a number of planned improvements at The Brewery Field to increase capacity and improve facilities over coming seasons.

More information will be shared about the improvements as they are confirmed.
